Down day at home, recovering at home with ice lollies in the garden. Ragga came to join in. Put a couple of unused winter shots on my flickr today too.

I've also made some changes so anyone can now comment on the blog, hopefully the spammers wont find it...

Still a little snow on the peaks, the weather is heating up nicely now though, so not sure how much longer it will last.

Went fishing on the Motatapu, Benoit caught a nice rainbow. I hooked one a few minuits after (pic of me fighting it by Benoit), but it broke my leader and got away, damn shame as it was a nice fish - maybe 3-4lb. My photo is of the gorge, it's incredibly deep there.

Went swimming. Lake Wanaka is still very cold.

day 23 - 23/01/10

Met up with a french dude, Benoit last night - he is touring the south island fly fishing. I offered him a room and in return he drove when we went exploring up the Makarora today. Such a hot day, not much in the way of fush activity at this end, but we will check out Dean's Bank tonight, hope for a hatch.
Met up with a local ledgend, Carl McNeil for a drink in the afternoon, he gave us a few helpful tips on the local hotspots.

Woop, woop - Wednesday. New messenger out and a job is back that I missed out on a few months ago. Have had a chat with the man and things look good. Hoping to get this so that I can try to persuade him that he needs someone to take photos of the clients playing games - so they could buy prints/digi files after a game perhaps...
Will have to wait and see.

day 19 - 19/01/10

Dean's Bank from the North side of the Clutha. Hooked probably the biggest fish of my life - I know because when I went to set the hook, he launched a foot or so out of the water - a monster. he quickly got away though, better luck next time.



Had to go to Sasanoki for dinner to make up.

day 18 - 18/01/10

Planted out about 10 of the chilli plants into pots today. Hopefully, this will work out and I'll end up with a whole bunch of them.

day 17 - 17/01/10

It was hot as hell, a fair way over 30ºC today, nice change. Housemates had a hangover day, I went fishing and caught nothing.

Really pleasant day in Wanaka today, nice sunset over the lake this evening too.

Hit up Timaru creek, caught a couple of smallish fish and put them back. Sand flies were swarming all day though. Nice sunset on the way home.

An unexpected visitor came through my window this morning. I thought it was Ragga, but this cat turns up and. He then proceeded to wander into the kitchen and eat all Ragga's food. Quite cute though, he fell asleep on my lap while I was sending some emails and having breakfast.

My version of an Adam's Irresistible I tied today. Although, I think it is a better imitation of a brown beetle.

Checked out a spot called Timburn Station - river was high and cloudy though.

Had some of the hardest rain I've seen in Wanaka so far all day today. Cleared in the evening and actually looks quite nice now. Forecast for the next week is distinctly average.

The weather was really grim today. Ragga knew what to do!

Couldn't really chose one today, besides they are pretty much the same. This is the spot on the Clutha where the Cardrona river (stream) meets it. Went to go fishing, but the Clutha is still really high and fast flowing, so pretty hard to fish.

It rained pretty much all day today. Raggamuffin was not impressed. Even so, you might be able to see a bit of blood under his chin. He chewed up a bird outside, leaving only the wings for me to find... nice.

day 5 - 05/01/10

This is the birthday cake I baked for Becca's birthday. It's a heavy dark choc/ground almond/breadcrumb based cake on the bottom and vanilla sponge on the top. Vanilla cream in the middle and coffee choc icing covering the whole thing. It was awesome!

Day 4 - 04/01/10

I can't really call this day 3 because of the time I took it but I though I should use it for my day 4. Haven't done any light painting for like 2 years, always fun to try this stuff again.

Day 3 - 03/01/10

Day 3, things getting a little more interesting - did a few night time exposures when I got back late from cake making session. I caught a few shooting stars too, but in other slightly less interesting shots.

I think it was something like f/3.2 ISO3200 20s for anyone who cares.

365 shots - day 1 01/01/10

Ok, gonna try to have a go at this new trend - 365 shots, one for each day of the year. I guess I may miss a few days and have a couple of days where I can only come up with less than epic shots, but still worth a crack.

Got round to doing it really last minute, so it's just a piece of crap indoor shot - still a bit of fun.
